15 Confirmed Cases Including Kindergarten Teachers in Gyeongnam... Vaccination Rate at 3%

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Ju Cheol-in] Gyeongsangnam-do announced that as of 5 p.m. on the 11th, 15 confirmed cases have occurred: 7 in Yangsan, 3 in Jinju, 2 in Sancheong, 1 in Changwon, 1 in Haman, and 1 in Hapcheon. Except for 2 overseas entrants, all are locally transmitted infections.


In Yangsan, three people including a man in his 60s had contact with family members of confirmed cases in the province or confirmed cases in Busan. Two people, a man in his 30s who entered from Cameroon on the 28th of last month and a child under 10, tested positive in pre-release tests from self-quarantine.


Two women in their 40s were confirmed positive with unknown infection routes during a full inspection of daycare center workers promoted by Gyeongnam Province.


A man in his 50s in Jinju was a contact of a confirmed case with an unknown infection route in the province, a woman in her 70s was a family member of a confirmed case in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi-do, and a woman in her 50s is under investigation for infection route.


A family of two men and women in their 60s in Sancheong and a woman in her 60s in Hapcheon also have unidentified infection routes.


A man in his 60s in Changwon is a confirmed case related to a door-to-door sales company.


A woman in her 50s in Haman, who was a contact of a confirmed case in the province, tested positive in a pre-release test from self-quarantine.


There were no additional confirmed cases on the second day at the Kimhae Elderly Daycare Center, where a mass infection occurred on the 9th.


Accordingly, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the province increased to 3,140 (228 hospitalized, 2,898 discharged, 14 deceased).


Following the government’s policy, Gyeongsangnam-do will resume AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine inoculations from the 12th for about 5,800 people including special education and childcare workers, health teachers, daycare nursing staff, and about 7,200 people in facilities for the disabled, elderly nursing communal living homes, and homeless shelters. However, those under 30 years old are excluded from vaccination.


The COVID-19 vaccination rate in the province shows about 3%, with approximately 84,300 people, including about 13,300 elderly aged 75 and over, having completed the first dose out of 2.8 million people aged 18 and over.
