Gyeongbuk Province Provides 1 Million Won Vouchers to Farms with COVID-19 Sales Decline

Applications Accepted Online or at Eup/Myeon/Dong Offices Until the End of April

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] Gyeongbuk Province announced on the 11th that from the 12th to the 30th, it will provide vouchers worth 1 million KRW in the form of prepaid cards to farms experiencing difficulties in agricultural management due to COVID-19.

The voucher recipients include about 2,700 farms in five sectors affected by reverse measures such as school attendance restrictions and limitations on dining-out businesses: floriculture, winter watermelon, eco-friendly agricultural products supplied to school meals, horse breeding farms, and rural experience and recreation villages.

Specifically, there are 251 floriculture households, 2,371 eco-friendly agricultural product businesses, 7 horse breeding households, and 125 rural experience and recreation villages. Gyeongbuk Province will review eligibility based on confirmed sales decreases in 2020 compared to 2019 and provide prepaid cards worth 1 million KRW accordingly.

Online applications can be made through the voucher website, and on-site applications are available at the town, township, or neighborhood offices located in the agricultural land area where the relevant products are cultivated.

Eligible recipients can visit nearby Nonghyup cooperatives or Nonghyup Bank branches from the 14th of next month to receive the prepaid card (1 million KRW), which can only be used in designated industries until September 30. Any remaining balance after the usage period will be automatically forfeited.

Kim Jong-su, Director of the Agricultural and Livestock Distribution Bureau of Gyeongbuk Province, said, "We hope this will help farmers who are struggling with poor sales and decreased visitors due to COVID-19 quarantine measures," and added, "We will do our best to promote so that all eligible farmers can apply within the period."
