For Preschoolers, Elementary, and Adolescents ▲ ON Museum for Kindergarten - Sparkling, Circle Book ▲ ON Museum for School - Textbooks, Our Stories ▲ ON Museum for School - The Journey of a Book: 3 Customized Online Educational Contents Provided
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) is introducing a 'School-linked 3-type Education Program' that allows kindergartens, daycare centers, and schools to enjoy the Songpa Book Museum exhibitions and content without spatial limitations.
As the spread of COVID-19 has not subsided, the district has taken the initiative to promote book culture enjoyment for group visitors from schools and institutions where museum visits are restricted.
Accordingly, three customized online educational contents have been prepared for young children, elementary students, and adolescents: ▲ ON Museum at Kindergarten - Sparkling, Round Books ▲ ON Museum at School - Textbooks, Our Stories ▲ ON Museum at School - The Journey of a Book.
ON Museum at Kindergarten - Sparkling, Round Books is designed for children aged 6 to 7. It is an experiential education program where children understand and express shapes in daily life to create their own shining picture books. It is planned to be autonomously operated by early childhood education institutions such as daycare centers and kindergartens. Educational materials including a making kit, USB containing teaching and learning guides, and an educational package with post-learning materials are sent to the applying institutions, allowing them to operate the program autonomously at their preferred time.
ON Museum at School - Textbooks, Our Stories targets elementary school students in grades 4 to 6. It links to the special exhibition currently held at the Book Museum, “Textbooks, Our Stories,” and allows viewing of exhibits through VR without visiting the museum. Additionally, through backpack-shaped learning materials, students can understand and experience the history of Korean textbooks and education.
ON Museum at School - The Journey of a Book is available for adolescents. Through real-time online education, participants can view the permanent exhibition of the Songpa Book Museum. Also, as a program linked to the free semester system, it provides time to understand and experience publishing in the Joseon Dynasty and modern times, which is expected to help participants discover their aptitudes.
In particular, the two education programs for elementary students and adolescents will be conducted intensively by actively communicating with participants using online video conferencing (ZOOM).
The education targets institutions within Songpa-gu (daycare centers, kindergartens, schools, etc.) on a class-unit basis. Detailed information can be found on the Songpa Book Museum website and the Songpa Saem Education Portal.
Mayor Park Seong-su said, “The online content of the Songpa Book Museum, developed more actively due to COVID-19, has received much love from residents so far,” and added, “I hope this program brings books closer to the daily lives of children and students.”
