COVID-19 New Cases Remain in the 600s for Three Days... Cumulative Vaccinations Reach 1,217,460 (Update)

[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jung] The number of new domestic COVID-19 cases in South Korea has remained in the 600s for three consecutive days.


The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced that as of midnight on the 11th, there were 614 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 109,559.


Among these, 594 cases were domestic transmissions, and 20 were imported cases.


By region, Seoul reported 211 cases, Gyeonggi 182 cases, and Incheon 16 cases, totaling 409 cases in the metropolitan area.


Non-metropolitan areas reported cases as follows: Busan 44, Jeonbuk 40, Chungnam 22, Gyeongnam 15, Gyeongbuk 12, Ulsan and Chungbuk 10 each, Daegu 6, Daejeon and Jeju 7 each, Jeonnam 6, Gangwon 5, and Sejong 1.


Of the 20 imported cases, 8 were identified during quarantine procedures, and the remaining 12 were detected within local communities. Thirteen were Korean nationals, and seven were foreigners.


The number of critically ill patients is 105, and the death toll increased by 3 the previous day, bringing the total deaths to 1,768. The number of newly released from isolation increased by 808, totaling 100,109.


The number of suspected cases tested was 22,902, and 26,222 tests were conducted at temporary screening clinics set up in the metropolitan area, resulting in 107 confirmed cases. The total number of tests conducted was 49,214.

According to the COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team, as of midnight on the same day, 8,710 people received the COVID-19 vaccine, bringing the total number of first-dose recipients to 1,156,950.


The number of new second-dose vaccinations was 1,088, with a total of 60,510 people having completed the second dose. The total number of vaccinated individuals to date is 1,217,460.


Among these, 916,780 received the AstraZeneca vaccine, and 300,680 received the Pfizer vaccine.


The number of reported suspected adverse reactions following COVID-19 vaccination increased by 18 cases the previous day, totaling 11,617 cases.


All 18 cases involved commonly occurring symptoms after vaccination, such as muscle pain, fever, headache, and nausea.
