Seongdong-gu Provides 500,000 KRW Employment Incentive for Unemployed Youth

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) will begin accepting applications for employment incentive support for unemployed youth affected by COVID-19 starting from the 12th.

Selected recipients of the employment incentive will receive 500,000 KRW worth of Seongdong Love Gift Certificates (Zero Pay) per person, credited to their mobile phones under their own name, which can be used at Zero Pay affiliated stores within Seongdong-gu.

To keep the eligibility, amount, and application methods consistent, Seoul City and its 25 district offices have coordinated, with Seongdong-gu advancing the application period earliest to facilitate faster job-seeking activities for unemployed youth.

Eligible applicants must be residents of Seongdong-gu aged between 19 and 34 according to their resident registration, unemployed without employment insurance, and youth within two years of graduation. However, current university (graduate) students, students on leave, recipients of unemployment benefits, and participants in the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s 2020 Youth Job-Seeking Activity Support Fund (2021 National Employment Support System) are excluded.

Applications can be submitted online through the 'Seoul Youth Portal' during the designated period.

Detailed eligibility requirements and application methods can be found on the Seongdong-gu website and the Seoul Youth Portal.

Jeong Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, stated, “We have promptly prepared a response plan to provide employment incentives to youth facing unemployment or joblessness due to COVID-19,” adding, “Although many young people find it difficult to seek employment due to the prolonged pandemic, we hope this support will aid their job-seeking efforts.”
