Kim Eo-jun "Last Broadcast? TBS is an Independent Foundation"
[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Broadcaster Kim Eo-jun expressed the opinion that it is difficult to abolish TBS's 'Kim Eo-jun's News Factory,' while Kim Geun-sik, Vision Strategy Office Chief of the People Power Party, said on the 8th, "If it becomes unbearable and shuts down on its own, blame the late former Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon, not Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon."
On the same day, Kim posted on his Facebook, saying, "Kim Eo-jun, you have worked hard to engage in 'mental victory'."
He pointed out, "Just because Oh Se-hoon was elected does not mean the program will be abolished or the host will step down. No, it cannot happen," adding, "It will be unavoidable to normalize the independent foundation TBS Traffic Broadcasting so that it faithfully fulfills its founding purpose and original role."
He continued, "'Providing traffic information and other lifestyle information' is the founding purpose, and nowhere does it fit current affairs news or political broadcasting," adding, "If it improves and normalizes itself to meet the founding purpose of traffic broadcasting, Seoul City can provide 40 billion won annually in support, but if it continues biased political broadcasting that violates the law and goes against the founding purpose, please independently come up with self-help measures with the 'Daekkaemun (a derogatory term for people who blindly support President Moon Jae-in)' listeners without Seoul City budget support."
Kim also said, "Because the late Mayor Park Won-soon made TBS an independent foundation, he neither interferes nor intervenes in the broadcasting, and similarly, tax support can be withheld," adding, "Thanks to Mayor Park, 'News Factory' can walk the proud path of independence."
Former Dongyang University professor Jin Jung-kwon commented on the post, saying, "Leave it alone. Let it fail more," and added, "The presidential election is still ahead. Kim Eo-jun's role is needed."
Earlier, Kim Eo-jun, the host of 'Kim Eo-jun's News Factory,' regarding the controversy over his removal from TBS broadcasting, said, "There are many who think this is the last broadcast, and many who hope it is the last broadcast," but added, "However, that is difficult."
He explained, "Over the past 10 years, procedures have been meticulously established. I am grateful to Mayor-elect Oh Se-hoon for that," adding, "During his term, Mayor-elect Oh Se-hoon perceived TBS as Seoul City's public relations broadcast. Therefore, there was much interference in broadcasting. As a result, a structure has been steadily created to make TBS independent from the influence of the mayor thereafter."
He also said, "TBS has become independent as a foundation. Even former Mayor Park could not appear on the broadcast at will. He requested to appear and was refused," adding, "Conservative supporters who hope 'News Factory' is the last broadcast should question Mayor-elect Oh Se-hoon."
