Kim Woo-young, Deputy Mayor for Political Affairs, Resigns
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] With the inauguration of Mayor Oh Se-hoon, who returned as Seoul mayor after 10 years, three vice mayors appointed by the late former Mayor Park Won-soon have tendered their resignations.
According to Seoul City on the 9th, Kim Woo-young, Seoul's Deputy Mayor for Political Affairs, reportedly submitted his resignation on the 7th. The appointing authority for the Deputy Mayor for Political Affairs is the mayor, and although it has not been confirmed whether the resignation has been accepted, it is widely expected to be approved.
Deputy Mayor Kim was brought into Seoul City by former Mayor Park and took office on July 1 of last year, before Mayor Park's death.
Additionally, Seo Jeong-hyeop, the Acting Mayor who served as the First Deputy Mayor for Administration, and Kim Hak-jin, the Second Deputy Mayor for Administration, also tendered their resignations on the 8th, the first day of Mayor Oh’s inauguration. The First and Second Deputy Mayors for Administration are political appointees whose appointment authority lies with the president, while the recommendation authority lies with the mayor.
Deputy Mayors Seo and Kim are expected to attend the comprehensive COVID-19 countermeasures meeting chaired by Mayor Oh on the same day.
