Seodaemun-gu, Discovering and Nurturing Green Ventures and Local Ventures


[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) will hold the ‘2021 Seodaemun-gu Social Economy Startup Camp’ from April 23 to May 4 to discover promising ventures challenging startups using climate environment and local resources as items.


The district is recruiting startup teams aiming to grow into green ventures and local ventures by enhancing their social economy business capabilities through the internet until the 19th of this month.


Through screening, 8 green venture teams and 16 local venture teams will be selected to conduct four practical startup training sessions and competitions online.


The training will include stakeholder analysis, idea concretization, special lectures on startup cases, deriving business models, market and competitor analysis, and 1:1 coaching for writing business plans.


Additionally, a competition will be held where teams present their business plans, providing 12 excellent teams with the opportunity to participate in the upcoming ‘Seodaemun Startup Incubating Program.’


Five teams will also be awarded a certain prize money.


All teams participating in this camp will be registered and managed in the Seodaemun Social Economy Startup Talent Pool.


Earlier, the district held the ‘2021 Seodaemun Startup Vision Forum’ last month, presenting the vision of green ventures and local ventures as specialized startup models for the region.


Mayor Moon Seok-jin stated, “We will support many green ventures and local ventures with ideas to solve climate environment and energy issues and utilize local resources to grow on the stable startup environment of Seodaemun-gu in every possible way.”


Seodaemun-gu, which has been actively supporting the creation of a social economy startup ecosystem and early-stage startup teams, especially aims to discover and nurture regional specialized models through the Social Economy Village Autonomy Center and the startup fostering space ‘Social Round’ within Sinchon Station.


Meanwhile, since enacting the ‘Ordinance to Support the Activation of Social Economy’ in 2015, the district has steadily worked on startup support, resulting in nurturing 106 startup teams and designating 32 teams as preliminary social enterprises.
