Reducing Noise and Contributing to Landscape Enhancement
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 8th that it will create forests by planting trees around National Routes 3 and 20 to block fine dust generated from the roads.
The county plans to plant seven types of trees, including Sansuyu (Cornus officinalis), on the slopes along National Routes 3 and 20 to block fine dust and pollutants generated near the roads and expects to reduce noise as well. It is also expected to contribute to creating a beautiful landscape.
The planted species are arranged so that flowers can be seen in each season, with Sansuyu, apricot trees, and Mongamju trees planted to allow flowers to bloom from March to August. From autumn, red berries will appear on Cornus and hawthorn trees, providing visual interest along the roadside.
A county official stated, “The Jinju Land Management Office of the Busan Regional Land Management Office provided great assistance in creating the fine dust blocking forest,” and added, “We plan to actively cooperate with the Jinju Land Management Office not only in forest management but also in maintaining the national roads, including roadside mowing.”
