NCSoft was found to have led the gaming industry last year in both donations and job creation.
According to NCSoft on the 8th, the number of employees at NCSoft as of last year was 4,224. This represents a 12.5% (469 people) increase compared to the previous year, the largest growth among publicly listed game companies in Korea. NCSoft's employee count was 3,200 in 2017, 3,458 in 2018, and 3,755 in 2019, showing an average growth rate of 12%. In last year's open recruitment, NCSoft increased diversity by hiring in 20 departments including AI and data, in addition to game development personnel.
NCSoft was also actively involved in donations. According to NCSoft's 2020 business report, the cumulative donation amount reached 19.1 billion KRW. This is a 21% (15.8 billion KRW) increase compared to the previous year, ranking first among domestic game companies. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic causing a decline in corporate donation culture, NCSoft increased its donation amount.
Over the past three years, NCSoft has donated 1% of its average pre-tax profits to the NC Culture Foundation. The NC Culture Foundation is a nonprofit organization established in 2012 to mark NCSoft's 15th anniversary, conducting public interest projects based on donations.
Last month, NCSoft became the first in the gaming industry to establish an ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Management Committee. The ESG Management Committee, composed of Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) Yoon Song-yi, Chief Operating Officer (COO) Jung Jin-soo, and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) Koo Hyun-beom, selected four core areas to strengthen sustainable management activities. NCSoft plans to conduct responsible management activities in four areas: consideration for future generations, support for socially vulnerable groups, protection of the environmental ecosystem, and leadership and ethics improvement in the AI era.
An NCSoft representative stated, "We will continue efforts to fulfill our social responsibilities in various fields this year as well."
