[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters will conduct fire suppression proficiency training using the fire station buildings of 35 fire stations in the area until June.
The Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters announced on the 8th that fire suppression teams working at 189 119 Safety Centers and 59 regional units in the province plan to conduct fire suppression proficiency training once every two weeks in teams at each fire station building.
This training is characterized by utilizing each fire station building without civilian contact as COVID-19 has prolonged.
The Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters expects this training to enhance rapid on-site response capabilities to fires in high-rise buildings, where large-scale casualties are a major concern.
The training is divided into four types: ▲ radio communication training such as on-site command and situation reporting by the first squad leader ▲ hose deployment and rope securing for water hose operation training ▲ equipment operation training such as fire pump and ladder operation ▲ actual water spray training.
Lee Sang-gyu, head of the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters, after observing the training using the fire station recently conducted at Ansan Fire Station, said, "If the training is repeated by type, rapid on-site response is possible in the event of various disasters," and added, "The training using fire stations was planned to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection."
The Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters will also conduct various types of training, including hazardous materials, in the second half of this year.
