[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong expressed his gratitude to Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde, who has actively contributed to building peace on the Korean Peninsula.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 7th, Minister Chung spoke with Minister Linde and exchanged views on bilateral relations and the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

Minister Chung expressed his appreciation for Sweden's active contribution to building peace on the Korean Peninsula, and Minister Linde conveyed that Sweden will continue to play a constructive role in advancing the peace process on the Korean Peninsula. Sweden has made efforts to facilitate North Korea-US dialogue, including providing the venue for the last North Korea-US working-level talks held in Stockholm in October 2019. Sweden is also a member of the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission, which monitors and manages the armistice regime on the Korean Peninsula.

Additionally, Minister Chung requested high-level participation in the P4G (Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030) Summit to be held in Seoul this May, and Minister Linde stated that she would actively cooperate for the successful hosting of the summit.

The two ministers agreed to continue multilateral cooperation in various fields this year, including the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), of which Sweden is the chair country, and the Stockholm Initiative, a major non-nuclear-weapon state consultation group led by Sweden.
