[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] Models who were arrested for taking nude photos in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), are reportedly going to be deported.

On the 7th (local time), according to the British media outlet 'The Times,' the UAE government has announced plans to deport the models. The models arrested on charges of taking nude photos are known to be from several countries, including Ukraine, Moldova, and Belarus.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that 11 of the models arrested for violating public decency are Ukrainian nationals. However, the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that no Moldovan nationals are involved in this incident, and the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is reportedly currently verifying the nationality of those involved.

On the 3rd, while traveling around the artificial island 'Palm Jumeirah' in Dubai, they took nude photos on the balcony of an apartment. After these photos were circulated, Dubai police arrested them. A Russian man suspected of organizing the group nude photo shoot was also arrested.

Dubai is considered the most open region in the Middle East, but it is reported to strictly punish obscene acts based on Islamic law, 'Sharia.'

According to current UAE law, those who engage in obscene speech or behavior can be fined 5,000 dirhams (approximately 1.5 million KRW) or sentenced to six months in prison.
