A Major Event for Local Talent Recruitment Opens... Online Joint Job Fair from the 8th

[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the National Balanced Development Committee announced on the 6th that they will hold the "2021 Online Regional Talent Joint Recruitment Briefing Session (hereinafter referred to as the Briefing Session)" for seven weeks from the 8th of this month to the 26th of next month.

The Briefing Session is an event held annually since 2012 to expand employment opportunities for regional talents and promote youth employment by providing explanations on the innovative city regional talent system, offering employment information from relocated public institutions, and operating regional education programs (Open Campus), among other related promotions.

Last year, the briefing was held online, attracting 111,029 job seekers, an eightfold increase compared to the previous year's offline event. In particular, videos featuring HR managers from public institutions and companies introducing their ideal candidates received great responses from job seekers.

This year, prioritizing public safety amid COVID-19, the event will be conducted non-face-to-face, but the briefing period has been significantly extended to seven weeks to provide more information to job seekers.

A total of 101 public institutions will participate, including 10 relocated public institutions in innovative cities nationwide and public institutions newly designated last year as regional talent recruitment targets.

Those wishing to participate can apply through the briefing session website, where they can check recruitment information by institution and inquire about any questions.

Additionally, various employment support programs are available, such as vlogs by senior employees sharing job know-how and daily life, National Competency Standards (NCS) strategic lectures, career aptitude tests, and self-introduction letter consulting.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has been enforcing the "Special Act on the Creation and Development of Innovative Cities" since 2018, operating a mandatory regional talent recruitment system. Especially this year, the mandatory recruitment ratio for regional talents will be gradually increased from 27% to 30% by 2022, with recruitment performance by each public institution announced annually and reflected in management evaluations to ensure the system’s effectiveness.

Furthermore, plans are underway to promote active cooperation between relocated public institutions and regional universities to nurture talent. Notably, the regional education programs (Open Campus) operated reflecting the characteristics of each relocated public institution will also be expanded.

Kwon Dae-cheol, Deputy Director of the Innovative City Development Promotion Team at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, said, "This briefing session is expected to be a valuable opportunity to support the purpose of the mandatory regional talent recruitment system," adding, "In addition to providing opportunities on-site such as this joint recruitment briefing session for creating youth jobs in the region, we will faithfully implement related policies including the mandatory regional talent recruitment system and the operation of regional education programs (Open Campus) by relocated public institutions."
