[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] K2 announced on the 6th that its footwear sales in March increased by 120% compared to the previous year, and the ‘Flyhike’ series grew by more than 500%.
In particular, the 'Flyhike Cube,' which has gained popularity with actress Suzy as the model, sold over 30,000 pairs within a month of its launch. Since the first release of the Flyhike series in 2018, a total of 380,000 pairs have been sold to date.
Riding on the explosive popularity of the Flyhike Cube, K2 has already placed a third reorder, bringing the total planned volume to twice the initial plan. Some stores are even conducting pre-orders due to product shortages. An analysis of the age group of purchasing customers showed that people in their 30s bought the most.
K2 believes that with the increase in the 20s and 30s hiking population, the Flyhike, which combines functionality and sophisticated design, has received a positive response from consumers looking for hiking shoes that are light and comfortable not only for hiking but also for everyday wear. Additionally, the strategic early advertising campaign featuring the ‘Suzy Hiking Shoes’ was effective in comprehensive marketing efforts.
Shin Dongjun, head of K2’s footwear planning team, said, “With the increase in outdoor activities and the young hiking population, the Flyhike Cube, with the concept of ‘light steps hiking shoes,’ fits well with consumer needs and is receiving a good response. We plan to further strengthen our footwear product line to encompass not only our existing customer base but also young customers in their 20s and 30s.”
