Mando Accelerates Digital Transformation with Launch of 'Software Campus'

Mando Accelerates Digital Transformation with Launch of 'Software Campus'

[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Mando is accelerating its digital transformation and innovative growth by establishing a Software Campus.

Mando announced on the 5th that it launched the 'Software Campus' as of the 1st of this month. The Software Campus is a global integrated research and development (R&D) organization that brings together 400 core talents from the software development divisions of Mando's three BUs (Brake, Steering, Suspension) and overseas research centers.

The leader of the Software Campus concurrently serves as Executive Director Hong-Yong Bae (Head of Steering BU). Executive Director Bae previously led the development of Mando's electronic shift-by-wire (SbW) button. The newly launched Software Campus plans to focus on developing 'integrated control solutions' and 'next-generation platform software.'

Mando established the Software Campus because software and control technology must follow to build electronic systems, which are its main products. The design of electronic control units (ECUs), which control electronic systems, depends on two axes: electronic hardware and advanced software development. As future mobility control technologies such as autonomous vehicles become more complex, software technology is becoming increasingly important.

With the establishment of the Software Campus, Mando plans not only to strengthen its competitiveness in mobility software technology but also to actively expand collaboration with related universities and research institutions and recruit talent externally.

Additionally, to enhance competitiveness in the software-centered mobility market, Mando began building the 'Next Global Resource Management Integrated Platform (ERP)' in March. The new ERP, based on SAP solutions, will lead digital transformation and innovative growth in processes, data, and information systems. The Next ERP will be simultaneously launched in January 2023 at 18 global subsidiaries, including those in the United States, Germany, and China.

A Mando official stated, "We have moved beyond IT transformation and have officially begun digital transformation, which will be accelerated by the Software Campus and Next ERP at the core," adding, "We will move forward to realize safer, more eco-friendly, and more convenient freedom for customers."
