'Gangnam Open University' Launches... World Scholar Jeffrey Sachs' 'COVID Recovery?' Ontact Lecture

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jung Soon-gyun) will launch a new lifelong education brand, ‘Gangnam Open University,’ which enables hybrid online and offline classes, starting with an on-tact lecture by world-renowned scholar Jeffrey Sachs, Distinguished Professor at Columbia University, USA, on April 13.

‘Gangnam Open University’ is a lifelong education platform using an on-tact method that allows anyone to share educational content without restrictions of time and space, making every space within the district a campus.

The district planned this project in response to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, noting that educational channels are shifting to a hybrid structure combining face-to-face and online education.

The upcoming on-tact lecture will be held in an interactive panel discussion format using the video conferencing platform ‘Zoom.’

At this event, the district plans to share the process of overcoming COVID-19 with residents and seek ways for a sustainable future. Videos to aid understanding will also be provided later on YouTube.

The resident speaker lecture series ‘GangTalk,’ where Gangnam residents themselves become speakers, will be held four times a year. The name ‘GangTalk’ means ‘Talk of Gangnam residents.’

Additionally, the district plans to hold special lectures on various topics such as the ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution’ and ‘Futurology’ on an ongoing basis to strengthen the future capabilities of the local community.
