'Cosmetic Empty Bottle Collection Campaign' to Reduce Plastic Waste and Improve Recycling Rates
Customers Returning Used Bottles After Purchase at Lalavla Receive a 2% Discount on Purchase Amount
At Lalavla Hongdae Central Branch, staff and models are introducing the collection of empty bottles.
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] LALAVLA, an H&B (Health & Beauty) store operated by GS Retail, announced on the 30th of this month that it will conduct a 'Cosmetic Empty Container Collection Campaign.'
The company explained that this campaign was planned to contribute to reducing plastic waste and improving recycling rates by collecting empty cosmetic containers discarded after use and recycling them.
LALAVLA offers customers a 2% discount on their purchase amount when they return empty containers. After customers purchase products at LALAVLA stores and use them, they can return the empty containers to the store, where LALAVLA collects and delivers them to recycling companies for recycling and upcycling.
The types of containers that can be collected include basic skincare, eye makeup, color makeup, nail care, fragrance, and anti-evaporation products. The discount benefit is applied once per container returned by the customer and can be used up to five times per day.
Collection boxes are installed at four stores: Hongdae Jungang Branch, Seogyo Branch, Gwanak Branch, and Gwangjin Hwayang Branch, with plans to expand nationwide within this year.
Through this campaign, LALAVLA expects customers to use its stores as a recycling platform, making it easier to return cosmetic containers. This is anticipated to establish a resource circulation system and increase the domestic resource recycling rate.
By doing so, the company aims to lay the foundation for environmental management and strengthen ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) capabilities that create new value, focusing its efforts on company-wide 필(必)environmental and ESG management practices.
A GS Retail official stated, "LALAVLA launched this empty container collection campaign to increase the recycling rate of cosmetic containers that are difficult to separate and recycle after use and to take the lead in resource circulation practices. We plan to continuously promote various eco-friendly activities that protect the environment in daily life and strive to strengthen sustainable management and social responsibility management."
