Oh Se-hoon "Change the Mayor, Let's Make Seoul Run Again"

[Asia Economy Reporters Naju-seok and Park Joon-yi] Oh Se-hoon, the People Power Party candidate for Seoul mayor, promised on the 25th to resume reconstruction and redevelopment, strengthen urban competitiveness, and solve transportation problems through light rail development. Oh appealed for support, saying, "With a new mayor this time, Seoul needs to take off once again."

At a key campaign rally held in front of Daehanmun Gate at Deoksugung Palace in Seoul, Oh said, "If Park Young-sun of the Democratic Party wins, I think it will be Park Won-soon Season 2. What do you think?" He added, "Over the past four years, the Moon Jae-in administration stubbornly blocked reconstruction and redevelopment. The main figures behind suppressing reconstruction and redevelopment were those who played leading roles in housing policy during former Mayor Park Won-soon's administration and then moved into the central government after the Moon administration took office to implement housing policies."

He stated, "I believe housing policy is the most important. As monthly rents rise, jeonse (key money deposit) increases, and housing prices go up, the money you can spend decreases," and argued, "All of this started with former Mayor Park." This implies that the chaos in the Moon administration's real estate policy began with former Mayor Park.

Additionally, Oh mentioned a female Seoul city employee who was sexually harassed by former Mayor Park, saying, "My heart aches just thinking about that victim who silently holds her breath and quietly watches who will take over the next administration," and added, "I believe this is not just one person's issue but a problem for all women in South Korea." He continued, "If I am elected, I will create a work environment in Seoul City where women can return without difficulty or hesitation."

Oh also expressed his intention to minimize the gap between Gangnam and non-Gangnam areas by strengthening Seoul's urban competitiveness and solving transportation problems. He promised, "If I am elected, I will accelerate the light rail that has not gained momentum to resolve the isolation of Gyodong and achieve balanced development between Gangnam and Gangbuk."

Meanwhile, Oh addressed Ahn Cheol-soo, leader of the People’s Party, who gave a supporting speech, saying, "I have never seen a respected politician in South Korea, but wouldn’t it be true new politics to join hands with Leader Ahn and show you our efforts to reclaim Seoul starting now?"
