[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] Regarding the incident where a man in his 20s driving a sports car assaulted a bus driver in his 60s, the man in his 20s initially claimed mutual assault by presenting a medical certificate indicating a two-week recovery period, but this time he proposed a settlement amount less than the hospital bill.
On the 24th, JTBC News reported that Mr. A, who was driving the sports car, proposed a settlement to the bus driver.
According to the report, the bus driver received a medical diagnosis requiring three weeks of recovery, but Mr. A offered 1 million won per week, totaling 3 million won.
Earlier, on the 28th of last month, Mr. A blocked a village bus that was stopped and about to depart near a bus stop in Bangbae-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, assaulted the driver, and hurled insults. This was because the bus driver had honked the horn.
When the bus driver, unable to endure any longer, grabbed Mr. A by the collar, Mr. A dragged the bus driver outside and threw him onto the asphalt ground.
During the subsequent police investigation, Mr. A submitted a medical certificate claiming, "I was also hit."
Then, Mr. A suddenly proposed a settlement to the bus driver.
The bus driver was hospitalized with a diagnosis requiring three weeks of recovery, and Mr. A offered 1 million won per week, totaling 3 million won.
The bus driver expressed disbelief. Having lost any intention to settle, he stated, "Because it is not covered by health insurance, the hospital bill has already exceeded 3 million won."
The bus driver said, "(The perpetrator) shows no remorse at all, and I cannot forgive him."
The perpetrator’s lawyer explained, "We merely proposed a typical mutual assault settlement amount and did not specify a concrete figure."
