E&Corporation Acquires Additional Liquid Waste Treatment Facility

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] EN Corporation's subsidiary EN Water announced on the 23rd that it has signed a memorandum of understanding to acquire EN Chemical's Dangjin plant, which holds wastewater consignment treatment permits and facility treatment capacity.

Since March, EN Corporation has invested over 100 billion KRW in acquiring water treatment-related companies. It acquired 100% of the shares of Hanseong Cleantech, a semiconductor ultrapure water equipment company, and also acquired Inbiotek's Dangjin plant, the nation's top liquid waste treatment operator.

Industry insiders evaluated that as soon as EN Corporation entered the industrial water treatment market through large-scale investments, it secured industry-leading ultrapure water treatment technology and the largest business infrastructure in the country.

The reason EN Corporation is actively entering the water treatment industry is due to its high evaluation of growth potential. The domestic liquid designated waste market is estimated to be about 1 trillion KRW. The proportion of advanced industries such as semiconductors, displays, and bio, which generate large amounts of liquid waste and wastewater, is increasing every year. The volume of wastewater generated is also rising.

Industrial water treatment for advanced industries such as semiconductors, displays, and bio differs from other industries in that interconnectivity among each field is important. Ultrapure water used in semiconductor production is treated as wastewater after use. Wastewater treatment generates sludge, which is either landfilled or dried. During this process, leachate is produced, requiring further wastewater treatment. Companies capable of integrated management of water treatment, wastewater consignment treatment, waste recycling, and air pollution control have an advantage.

EN Corporation has secured a ‘total water treatment solution’ infrastructure capable of supplying semiconductor process water such as ultrapure water, wastewater consignment treatment, liquid waste treatment, and waste recycling.

EN Corporation plans to continuously acquire related companies to strengthen synergy. This year, it aims to grow into the number one company in the industrial water treatment sector and further expand into overseas markets.
