UN Commission on the Status of Women Meeting Held Online Until the 26th
Seoul City Case Introduced at Parallel Event "Women-Friendly Cities" on the 22nd

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Foundation of Women and Family will participate in a parallel event titled "Governance, Leadership, and Women's Safety" on the 22nd during the two-week annual session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UN CSW) held from the 15th to the 26th.

At this parallel event, the Seoul Foundation of Women and Family plans to share cases aimed at creating a gender-equal labor environment. In 2018, Seoul established a dedicated policy department to implement gender-equal labor policies, and in 2019, amended the "Seoul Metropolitan Government Gender Equality Basic Ordinance" to enforce wage disclosure for 22 Seoul-invested and funded institutions.

Based on the results of the gender-equal wage disclosure, Seoul sought to establish a plan to reduce the gender wage gap by promoting consulting with the Seoul City Discrimination Investigator and the Gender-Equal Wage Advisory Group in 2020. This year, the gender-equal wage disclosure system will be expanded to include the Seoul Metropolitan Government headquarters and the University of Seoul.

Excellent sustainable gender-equal city practices will also be introduced from Vancouver, Barcelona, and Iraq. This event will be broadcast live online, and summaries of the main event outlines and key content will be provided in the future.

Meanwhile, since 2008, the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Foundation of Women and Family have participated in the UN Commission on the Status of Women sessions seven times, introducing and sharing various gender equality policy cases from Seoul with the world.
