[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Jung Eun-kyung, Commissioner of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, stated on the 18th that there is "no clear evidence that blood clot symptoms after COVID-19 vaccination are caused by the vaccine" according to current opinions.
At the plenary session of the National Assembly's Budget and Accounts Special Committee on the same day, Commissioner Jung responded to a question from Shin Hyun-young, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, regarding blood clot side effects, saying, "Blood clots occur quite commonly. According to data from the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, about 17,000 people are reported annually with pulmonary embolism, indicating frequent reports of blood clots," and added, "It is necessary to continuously monitor whether this is a routine occurrence or an increase caused by vaccination."
He also added, "Similar blood clot cases have been reported not only with the AstraZeneca vaccine but also with the Pfizer vaccine."
