[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province, announced on the 18th that two livestock field demonstration projects organized by the National Institute of Animal Science under the Rural Development Administration have been selected this year.
The selected demonstration projects are early weaning castration fattening technology to improve the marbling fineness of high-quality Korean beef and a fattening demonstration test of crossbred goats fed with IRG hay.
The Agricultural Technology Center will actively promote these projects from the end of this month to enhance livestock competitiveness through the practical application and dissemination of new technologies developed from livestock test research results.
The first livestock field demonstration project, starting with an on-site briefing session for target farms, is in the Korean beef sector, focusing on early weaning of calves and step-by-step fattening feeding management technology input to produce premium calf meat.
The demonstration test will be conducted over three years, aiming to improve farm income by producing high-quality meat through early weaning fattening of one-month-old calves and castration of calves aged 3 to 4 months, followed by shipment at 28 to 30 months of age.
The second project involves growth and meat quality characteristics of crossbred black goats according to forage types and feed cost reduction technology input.
This two-year project aims to clarify the effects of forage feeding at different growth stages of goats, analyze changes in feed intake and body weight during the fattening period, and meat quality characteristics to reduce production costs and improve productivity.
An official from the Agricultural Technology Center stated, “We will contribute to enhancing livestock competitiveness through the dissemination of new livestock technologies by operating livestock field demonstration projects, and we will do our best to spread livestock technology within the region through continuous livestock field demonstration tests.”
