[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Jeju Air announced on the 17th that it has transported 36.15 million passengers over 12 years since launching international flights.
Jeju Air is celebrating the 12th anniversary of its international flights on the 20th and has operated approximately 223,000 flights, transporting 36.15 million passengers up to last year. In 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic, it set a record with the highest number ever of 52,837 flights and 8.36 million passengers transported.
Jeju Air officially began its international flight era on March 20, 2009, starting with a schedule of seven weekly flights on the Incheon?Osaka route. Except for last year, when international travel was difficult due to COVID-19 (8,639 flights operated, 1.13 million passengers transported), the number of passengers grew by an average of about 68.6% annually.
To commemorate the 12th anniversary of its international flights, Jeju Air is running a promotion targeting the currently operating Japan routes: Incheon?Osaka and Incheon?Narita.
Starting from 10 a.m. on the 17th, customers purchasing tickets for the Japan routes will be exempt from reservation cancellation fees and itinerary change fees once for bookings made by April 30. However, free reservation cancellations and itinerary changes are only possible when applying for refunds and itinerary changes directly through the website, so customers should take note.
During the event period, passengers who purchase fares of 'FLY BAG' or higher on the applicable routes will receive an additional 10 kg of free checked baggage on top of the basic 15 kg allowance, and will also earn an extra 3% Jeju Air Refresh Points. There is also a concurrent event offering discounted New Class flights on Japan routes departing in April and May starting from 142,000 KRW.
A Jeju Air official stated, “Although overseas travel is difficult due to COVID-19, there is still demand for travel and business, so we plan to focus more on customer convenience.”
