Genians and Taia Sign MOU for OT Security Business Collaboration

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Genians announced on the 17th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with smart factory solution provider Taia to collaborate on the development of industrial OT security solutions and to pioneer the market.

With the recent activation of Industry 4.0 and smart factories, internal industrial systems are being connected externally, increasing the importance of OT security. In continuous processes, if one piece of equipment malfunctions, it affects the entire production. This can lead to large-scale defects, production disruptions, and even a decline in corporate trust.

According to IBM-X Force, a research institute under IBM, OT ICS targeted attacks increased by 2000% in 2019. Losses in the 'Energy & Utility' sector due to cyber threats, including management losses and equipment damage, were estimated to reach an average of $13.2 million annually.

Unlike IT security, which focuses on data protection, the goal of OT security is to ensure availability and industrial safety. Genians supplies industry-leading NAC and EDR. Based on its security platform, it modularizes OT security element technologies. Through roadmaps such as AI-based cloud security services, it is pioneering the OT security market.

Taia has experience in building industrial information systems for large domestic and international manufacturers and possesses integrated smart factory solutions including equipment management, production, quality, and sensor data collection.

Under the partnership, they will ▲discover domestic and international OT security markets ▲develop interworking between Genians’ security solutions and Taia’s industrial solutions ▲conduct joint projects for mutual supply and activation of products.

Andonghee, Genians’ OT security specialist, explained, "Through partnerships between specialized companies, we expect synergy in terms of OT security solution services for both companies’ clients," adding, "We will actively cooperate to protect smart factories and key industrial infrastructure."

Jini Jin, CEO of Taia, emphasized, "While carrying out smart factory projects targeting critical manufacturing equipment, there is a security demand from clients regarding OT control networks," and added, "Through cooperation with Genians, we will ensure thorough OT security services for domestic and international clients along with joint pilot projects."
