Release of 'Giga Genie Hotel Mini,' an affordable Giga Genie hotel model for AI hotel services
Remote control signal output equipped in four directions: up, down, left, and right... Expanding home appliance control range
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] KT announced on the 14th that it will launch the affordable model of the ‘Giga Genie Hotel’ terminal for artificial intelligence (AI) hotel services, called the ‘Giga Genie Hotel Mini.’
With the KT AI hotel’s ‘Giga Genie Hotel’ terminal, guests can control room features such as lighting, TV, and heating/cooling with a single voice command, request amenities and concierge services, and enjoy content from Genie Music.
The Giga Genie Hotel Mini is smaller than the existing 12-inch Giga Genie Hotel, featuring a 7-inch screen and weighing only 1.2 kg. It also includes four infrared blasters (IR Blasters) on all four sides?top, bottom, left, and right?allowing stronger remote control signals for room device management. Infrared blasters are necessary to control other external devices that operate via infrared recognition.
The user interface (UI) within the terminal has also been improved. Hotel guests can easily control frequently used functions not only through voice recognition but also via touch controls. Additionally, the panel order automatically adjusts based on guests’ usage patterns, enhancing user convenience. These improvements reflect feedback from guests and staff who have used the existing KT AI hotel system.
The price is more than 100,000 KRW cheaper than the previous terminal, making it an affordable option even for small to medium-sized hotels with relatively smaller room sizes. However, the ‘Harman Kardon’ speaker included in the basic Giga Genie Hotel terminal is not provided in the affordable Giga Genie Hotel Mini model.
Choi Joon-ki, Head of KT AI and Big Data Business Division, said, “We have incorporated all the functions that guests need into the KT Giga Genie Hotel Mini. With this additional terminal lineup, we expect to satisfy the diverse demands of various hotel customers and further expand KT AI hotel services.”
