Seoul City Announces Community Support Project Contest for Residents in 12 Hanok-Dense Areas

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 11th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will publicly recruit projects to support resident communities in Hanok villages, targeting a total of 12 locations including Hanok-dense areas and Eunpyeong Hanok Village, to promote the utilization of local resources and community revitalization led by Hanok village residents.

Any group of three or more residents, organizations, or students living or residing in the target areas can apply. The recruitment is divided into two types: "Resident Group Type" and "Village Specialization Type," with support ranging from 6 million to a maximum of 15 million KRW depending on the project type and content.

Proposed projects will be selected through a comprehensive review of appropriateness, public interest, and feasibility by the subsidy review committee based on prior field survey results.

Seoul City will provide preliminary consultations to help understand the application and project process, and even after project selection, continuous consulting will be offered through connections with village activists.

Ryu Hoon, Director of the Seoul Urban Regeneration Office, said, "The interest and proactive participation of local residents are the foundation of sustainable urban regeneration," adding, "We will continuously support the preservation of value and revitalization of resident communities by utilizing the human and material resources of Hanok villages."

Applications will be accepted online from the 29th to the 31st by downloading the application forms from the Seoul City website and Seoul Hanok Portal, preparing the necessary documents, and submitting them via email to the person in charge. Inquiries can be made to the Seoul Hanok Architecture Assets Division.
