Establishment of Integrated Response System for Wildfire Personnel and Equipment and Improvement of Working Conditions
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Cheon-seok] Boseong County announced on the 9th that it has established a wildfire prevention response system centered on the Wildfire Response Center to prevent spring wildfires.
To establish an integrated wildfire prevention response posture, Boseong County has centralized wildfire monitoring and firefighting personnel and various equipment in one location. A leased wildfire helicopter is stationed at the lawn plaza of Jaeamsan Natural Recreation Forest, conducting patrol inspections and broadcasts in the area more than twice a day, thereby establishing a rapid and perfect ground and aerial firefighting response posture.
The Boseong County Wildfire Response Center was constructed as part of a comprehensive wildfire countermeasure to minimize damage to citizens' property and lives caused by unexpected wildfires. It was built with support from the Korea Forest Service and Jeollanam-do, starting construction in June last year in the Boseong-ri area of Boseong-eup, and is currently in operation.
The Wildfire Response Center can simultaneously store three wildfire firefighting vehicles and ten types of firefighting equipment (980 items) such as backpack pumps on standby. It also has welfare facilities such as a standby room and shower room, accommodating 30 firefighting personnel.
Additionally, it is equipped with educational facilities where safety-related training can be conducted.
A Boseong County official emphasized, "Due to the dry weather caused by strong winds recently, the risk of wildfire occurrence has become very high, so active cooperation from residents and mountain visitors is necessary to prevent wildfires." He also stated, "If wildfires occur due to negligence or if acts such as lighting fires are detected, strong legal measures and fines will be imposed."
