Mayor Lee said, "The 20th presidential election (March 9, 2022) is exactly one year away," adding, "Each party and candidate will begin preparing and announcing their election pledges in earnest. We must utilize the presidential election as an opportunity for our city's future leap and to solve current issues."
He continued, "Today, under the chairmanship of the Deputy Mayor, a 'Presidential Election Pledge Discovery Planning Direction Briefing and Discussion' will be held. Please do your best to organically cooperate with the Gwangju-Jeonnam Research Institute and experts from various fields to discover effective pledge tasks that will help regional development."
He stated, "A joint development strategy for Gwangju and Jeonnam is also necessary to secure competitiveness in relation to the metropolitan area and other cities," adding, "Please prepare large-scale SOC, super-regional projects, airport relocation, and other win-win cooperation projects, which are difficult to promote by Gwangju and Jeonnam alone, in collaboration with Jeonnam Province as presidential election pledges."
He then requested, "After discovering the pledges, please enhance their completeness through public discussion and strive to have them adopted as pledges by leading candidates through close cooperation with local political circles."
