Namyang Dairy Products Launches ESG Promotion Committee... Reducing 2,000 Tons of Plastic Within 4 Years

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] Namyang Dairy Products launched an ESG Promotion Committee on the 5th, stepping up efforts to strengthen 'sustainable management.' The ESG Promotion Committee is composed of personnel from a total of 10 teams, including production, marketing, and public relations, centered around CEO Kwangbeom Lee (pictured).

The ESG Promotion Committee plans to enhance existing social contribution activities for vulnerable groups, including children and mothers, alongside promoting 'eco-friendly Green management.' Additionally, having received the 'highest' rating for two consecutive years in the Fair Trade Agreement compliance evaluation, the committee announced plans to maintain and expand various dealership support policies to lead a culture of mutual growth.

Through establishing the vision of 'eco-friendly Green management,' the ESG Promotion Committee aims to reduce plastic emissions by more than 20% by 2025 in line with the Ministry of Environment's plastic reduction measures. They will implement activities such as removing plastic accessories from beverage products, applying label-free packaging to beverage products, and reducing the use of plastic films, targeting a reduction of approximately 2,000 tons of plastic by 2025. The goal is to achieve zero plastic use across all products by 2050. In the long term, they plan to switch plastic products to materials such as Tetra Pak or bioplastics.
