[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] GS25 announced on the 9th that it will launch Geumseong Beer, reflecting the newtro trend, to commemorate the sale of 10 million units of the Craft Beer Landmark Series and the 50th anniversary of GS Retail's founding.
The newly released Geumseong Beer is the first series, with a retro design concept as the basic theme, combining a unique taste and quality with the freshness of the recently popular ale style. Geumseong Beer uses the nostalgic Goldstar logo on the can design and actively incorporates the gold theme in both taste and design.
The beer types are presented as a golden ale, a middle style between the deep-flavored pale ale and the refreshing lager. It features a rich finish with a harmony of golden malt, hops with abundant tropical fruit aroma, and refreshing Jeju-grown golden scent.
Since GS25 introduced the first Craft Beer Landmark Series, Gwanghwamun Ale, in 2018, the cumulative sales of the five Landmark Series beers have surpassed 10 million units in 2 years and 10 months. The Landmark Series consists of five types: Gwanghwamun Ale, Jeju Baengnokdam Ale, Gyeongbokgung Ale, Seongsan Ilchulbong Ale, and Namsan Ale, with continuous sales growth.
A GS Retail official said, “GS25 has established itself as a representative craft beer destination by offering a variety of high-quality craft beers,” adding, “We hope that through Geumseong Beer, launched to celebrate the 50th anniversary, customers will recall memories and overcome COVID-19 stress with a new kind of fun.”
