[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Daewoo Winia Group announced on the 9th that it held the '2021 Dream Scholarship Award Ceremony' to support youth who are nurturing their dreams despite difficult circumstances.
This event is part of the 'Scholarship Support for Out-of-School Youth Entering University' project conducted by the 'National Foundation for Sending Children to School with Peace of Mind' campaign. A total of 50 million KRW in scholarships will be provided to 29 out-of-school youths who passed the high school equivalency exam and are about to enter university this year.
Daewoo Winia Group explained, "Most scholarship programs conducted by various scholarship foundations and local governments focus on enrolled students, so considering the lack of support for out-of-school youths, we decided to provide this sponsorship."
The youth representative who received the scholarship said, "I am truly happy that the university admission I have dreamed of has become a reality through this scholarship," adding, "I will work even harder to achieve my dreams."
The scholarship award ceremony held the previous day at Daewoo Tower in Yeoksam-dong, Seoul, was attended by Kim Hyuk-pyo, CEO of Winia Dimchae, an affiliate of Daewoo Winia Group; Lee Chung-ho, Chairman of the Child Safety Foundation; Jung So-yeon, Head of the Protection Policy Division at the Ministry of Justice; Kim Do-yeon, Director of the Korea Youth Counseling and Welfare Institute; and Lee Woo-kwon, Secretary General of the Child Safety Foundation.
CEO Kim Hyuk-pyo said, "We hope this Dream Scholarship support will serve as a starting point for out-of-school youths in welfare blind spots to envision a bright future," adding, "The group will continue to actively participate in various social contribution activities to help marginalized and vulnerable youths continue their studies and strive to instill hope in the youths who will lead the future of our country."
