[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Shim Min, the governor of Imsil County, Jeonbuk, has actively engaged in communication administration by frequently visiting major project sites.
According to Imsil County on the 8th, Governor Shim visited disaster-risk project sites prepared for flood and wind disaster prevention and leisure welfare facilities such as senior centers to inspect the sites and listen to opinions.
The on-site inspection of disaster-risk project sites was arranged to check the preparation status of the 2022 public contest project for the Osu Flood and Wind Disaster Living Zone Maintenance Project, which is being promoted to establish preemptive disaster prevention measures in the Osu-myeon Osu-ri area, where damage occurs due to river flooding and habitual inundation during heavy rainfall.
The county’s Imsil-eup was selected as one of the five nationwide pilot districts for the comprehensive flood and wind disaster living zone maintenance project in 2018, the first in the province, and is being promoted normally with a goal of completion in 2024.
In preparation for additional public contest projects, a feasibility study for the Osu Flood and Wind Disaster Living Zone was initiated in December 2020 and is currently underway.
The comprehensive flood and wind disaster living zone maintenance project is a regional living zone comprehensive maintenance project promoted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Environment, and other central ministries. It links unit projects with individual investment methods, such as small stream maintenance and stormwater pipe maintenance, to resolve inundation areas, and is a key policy project promoted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The Osu-myeon Osu-ri area, the target site of the public contest project, is an upstream area where Osu Stream and Dunnam Stream converge, and last year during the rainy season, flooding damage occurred in lowland residential areas and farmland.
It is considered a suitable site for the public contest project as it is an area with a persistent risk of inland flooding in lowlands during heavy rainfall caused by abnormal weather.
The county plans to thoroughly promote disaster prevention projects to proactively respond to natural disasters and create an efficient and safe environment.
Governor Shim also went out to gather opinions on functional enhancement projects for the convenience and welfare improvement of elderly users of senior centers in the jurisdiction.
He visited six facilities, including Osu Singi Senior Center, which is about to resume operation depending on the COVID-19 situation, to check the on-site conditions.
He also inspected the senior center functional enhancement projects aimed at reinforcing convenience facilities to minimize inconvenience for elderly users and providing a safe and comfortable resting place.
Governor Shim said, “We will pay closer attention to prevent safety accidents for elderly people using aged senior centers and to create a pleasant and comfortable space.”
