[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] KT announced on the 8th that it will launch the ‘Y No-Contract Plan’ on the 9th to reduce customers' fee burdens and expand their choices.
The Y No-Contract Plan is an online-only tariff plan consisting of two types: the 5G plan ‘5G Y No-Contract Plan’ and the LTE plan ‘LTE Y No-Contract Plan.’ Customers can subscribe through KT’s official online direct mall ‘KT Direct,’ which offers non-face-to-face activation services.
The 5G Y No-Contract Plan provides 200 gigabytes (GB) of data as a basic package for 55,000 KRW per month, while customers using the LTE Y No-Contract Plan can use 100GB of data for 45,000 KRW per month. Both plans offer unlimited data at a speed of 5 megabits per second (Mbps) once the basic data is exhausted.
KT is running a promotion until August 31st that offers a 5,500 KRW monthly discount for customers aged 29 or younger who subscribe to the Y No-Contract Plan. Through this promotion, customers can use 200GB of 5G data for 49,500 KRW and 100GB of LTE data for 39,500 KRW per month.
KT Direct is also hosting the ‘Want It All’ event. Among new subscribers to the Y No-Contract Plan, winners will be selected by lottery to receive prizes favored by people in their 20s, such as the ‘Apple AirPods Max.’ Customized subscription benefits are also prepared, including a ‘Direct Coupon Pack’ (7 types of coupons including Starbucks and Coupang Eats) and Happy Point rewards for all new subscribers.
On the 5th, KT launched the ‘Unlocked Device Damage Insurance’ for customers using unlocked phones. This insurance service covers damage regardless of the purchase route or usage period of the smartphone. Customers wishing to subscribe can receive phone consultation and sign up through the ‘Unlocked Device Dedicated Center’ without visiting a store.
Additionally, KT will launch the ‘Unlocked Phone Replacement Program’ on the 27th for customers using unlocked phones who were previously unable to join the existing replacement program. Customers who maintain their subscription for 7 days after purchasing an unlocked phone can join, and after paying monthly fees for 24 months and returning the device, they can receive up to 40% compensation. Considering the characteristics of unlocked phone users who are familiar with online procedures, the entire process from program enrollment to device return can be completed online.
Hyunjin Park, Executive Vice President and Head of KT’s Customer Strategy Division, said, “With the newly launched Y No-Contract Plan and various insurance services, customers using unlocked phones can now use KT conveniently and reasonably. KT plans to continue launching various services tailored to customer needs in the future.”
