[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Innocean Worldwide announced on the 8th that it won two main awards at the ‘2021 Spikes Asia,’ the most prestigious advertising festival in the Asia-Pacific region. Innocean received a bronze award in the digital category for Hyundai Motor Company's brand film ‘Second Steps’ and the ‘Cheering Bandage’ campaign, which was jointly conducted by Innocean, Facebook, and Young Chemical.
Second Steps is a campaign video conveying Hyundai Motor's new brand vision message of progress for humanity. The video depicts Park Jun-beom, a disabled national archery athlete who became paraplegic due to a car accident, walking with the help of Hyundai’s H-MEX (medical robot) and embracing his mother, showcasing Hyundai’s human-centered future mobility philosophy.
The campaign effectively conveyed its significance and the brand’s authenticity through the universally relatable keyword ‘first steps’ and Park Jun-beom’s inspiring story of challenge. Released in January last year, the video deeply moved audiences worldwide and currently has 42 million views on YouTube.
The Cheering Bandage campaign attracted attention as a unique case where an advertising company, social media platform, and medical bandage manufacturer joined hands to encourage medical staff fighting against COVID-19. This social contribution campaign involved Innocean and Facebook Korea collecting public support messages via the campaign’s official Instagram channel over two months from April to May, which Young Chemical then printed on bandages and delivered to COVID-19 medical staff and volunteers.
Innocean successfully distributed a total of 400,000 bandages with support messages to COVID-19 dedicated medical institutions nationwide. Medical staff shared their impressions, saying, “Seeing each support message from the public in such a difficult situation was touching,” “The bandage messages made me feel reassured and gave me a sense of duty as a medical worker,” and “Reading the message ‘I’m so glad to be Korean and thankful to everyone’ filled my heart with emotion.”
An Innocean official said, “This year’s award-winning works are good examples of warm messages delivered through advertising campaigns,” adding, “We will continue to strive to carry out advertising marketing activities that help society by combining cutting-edge technology and creativity.”
