Jinju City, Spring Cleanup from Dongbang Hotel to Jinyang Bridge along Namgang River

Collected approximately 2 tons of various trash in collaboration with volunteer organizations

Joo Kyu-il, Mayor of Jinju, is conducting spring cleaning along the Namgang River and safety inspections of the river during the thawing season.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City in Gyeongnam announced on the 7th that it conducted a joint inspection of river facilities and a spring cleaning along the Namgang River in collaboration with volunteer organizations to prevent safety accidents and disasters during the thawing season.

About 30 people, including Mayor Jo Gyu-il, public officials, and volunteer groups, voluntarily participated in the event, conducting a thorough inspection of river facilities along a 2 km stretch of the Namgang embankment from Dongbang Hotel to Jinyanggyo Bridge, and collected approximately 2 tons of various trash.

The city began inspecting riverside facilities from February during the thawing season to provide a pleasant and safe river environment as outdoor activities by citizens increased following the easing of social distancing measures for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

They have been carrying out environmental cleanup activities by collecting trash from river sections with frequent outdoor activities, such as the Namgang embankment in the city, the Yeongcheongang River area in Chungmugong-dong, and the Gajacheon area in Gajwa-dong.
