[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] Woori Card announced on the 7th that it held the '2050 Woori Card ESG Green Declaration Ceremony' together with Woori Financial Group to practice Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management and carbon neutrality.

A small number of people attended the declaration ceremony, including Kim Jeong-gi, President of Woori Card, Choi Hyun-soo, Chairman of the Labor Union, and two representatives of executives and employees. All employees participated non-face-to-face online and read the 'Green Declaration' containing practical tasks such as ▲carbon emission reduction ▲strengthening governance transparency ▲warm finance.

The Green Declaration was sealed in a time capsule to pledge the completion of ESG management by 2050. It is scheduled to be opened on the anniversary of Woori Card’s founding in 2050, when the goal is achieved through steady carbon neutrality and green finance practices.

The attendees of the Green Declaration Ceremony shouted the ESG management slogan "Yes Green," expressing strong will for green finance, and reflected on its significance by receiving flowerpots made from plastic waste. These saplings will be nurtured by the attendees for about a month and then delivered to areas recently affected by wildfires. In the future, an eco-friendly campaign called the "Green Campaign" will also be conducted for executives and employees.

President Kim emphasized, "For a sustainable ecosystem, it is not a choice but a necessity for companies to voluntarily participate in low-carbon movements, and it is a path that must be taken," adding, "I ask all executives and employees to join in fulfilling corporate social responsibility and proactively practicing carbon neutrality."

Meanwhile, Woori Card is promoting the global eco-friendly management system 'ISO 14001' corporate certification, and on the 26th of last month, succeeded in issuing 100 billion KRW of social bonds to support payment funds for small and medium-sized merchants.
