[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] In the comprehensive evaluation of the management status of national road management agencies, the '2020 Autumn Road Maintenance Evaluation' selected Korea Expressway Corporation Gangwon Headquarters and Hongcheon National Land Management Office as the best institutions.
According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on the 7th, in the expressway and general national road sectors, the Korea Expressway Corporation Gangwon Headquarters and Hongcheon National Land Management Office were selected as the best institutions, while Chungcheongbuk-do and Daegu Metropolitan City were chosen as the best institutions in the local and special/metropolitan city road sectors.
For city/county/district roads, Sangju City in Gyeongbuk Province and Dong-gu in Daegu were respectively selected as the best institutions.
This evaluation was conducted through a central joint on-site evaluation and administrative evaluation of last year's autumn road maintenance evaluation results. Due to COVID-19, the award ceremony for the championship flag and commendations was not held separately and was instead delivered non-face-to-face.
The Ministry of Land plans to award ministerial commendations to 30 selected outstanding institution employees and also plans to commend field workers such as public officials, equipment operators, and laborers of the management agencies.
Joo Hyun-jong, Director of the Road Bureau at the Ministry of Land, said, "To create a safe and convenient road environment, we will continue to strengthen road maintenance evaluations to increase the responsibility of each road management agency and to appreciate their efforts."
