Realmeter February Survey Results: 53.3%, 9.6p Gap from 2nd Place
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Jang Seok-woong, Superintendent of Jeonnam Education, has maintained the highest job performance approval rating nationwide for 22 consecutive months.
According to the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education on the 5th, Superintendent Jang Seok-woong received 53.3% support in the February 2021 job performance evaluation of the 3rd term directly elected superintendents of 17 cities and provinces nationwide, conducted by the polling agency Realmeter, maintaining first place for 22 months since May 2019.
Since his inauguration in July 2018, Superintendent Jang has consistently ranked among the top nationwide, and in last month's survey, 2 years and 8 months into his term, he maintained an unshakable leading position.
He was the only one among the 17 superintendents nationwide to record a support rate in the 50% range, showing a 9.6 percentage point gap from the second place (43.7%).
The Provincial Office of Education attributed Superintendent Jang's high approval rating to the innovative education policies he has consistently pursued since taking office, which have yielded results with the sympathy of the residents.
Superintendent Jang is recognized for leading many changes on the ground as a result of his dedication to education innovation centered on students and classrooms, formation of a democratic organizational culture, realization of warm and equal educational welfare, and implementation of educational autonomy through communication and cooperation.
In February, the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education disseminated the "2030 Jeonnam Future Education Comprehensive Development Plan" to respond to the declining school-age population, the 4th Industrial Revolution, and the era of "post-COVID-19."
Superintendent Jang said, "The support from residents is an encouragement and cheer for Jeonnam education moving beyond innovation toward the future," adding, "I will not be intoxicated by the approval rating but will return to the original intention to continuously promote student-centered education innovation and firmly establish the cornerstone of Jeonnam's future education."
Meanwhile, Realmeter's regular February survey was conducted via random telephone calls using an automated response system to 8,500 people aged 18 and over nationwide (500 per city and province) in January and February. The sampling error by metropolitan area is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, with a response rate of 5.2%.
