Court Issues Arrest Warrants for 20s Stepfather and Biological Mother in '8-Year-Old Daughter Abuse and Death' Case

Stepfather A and biological mother B, who are accused of abusing and causing the death of their 8-year-old daughter, are entering the Incheon District Court in Michuhol-gu, Incheon, on the morning of the 5th to undergo a pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant hearing).

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seok-jin] A couple in their 20s, including a stepfather and biological mother, who are accused of abusing their 8-year-old daughter to death, have been arrested by the police.

The Women and Juvenile Investigation Unit of the Incheon Police Agency arrested A (27) and his wife B (28) on the 5th on charges of child abuse resulting in death under the Child Abuse Punishment Act.

On the same day, Judge Jung Woo-young, head of the warrant division at the Incheon District Court, who conducted the pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant review) for the couple in the morning, issued arrest warrants for both in the afternoon, stating there was a risk of flight or evidence destruction.

Earlier, in front of the warrant review courtroom, A lowered his head and responded to reporters' questions asking, "Do you admit the charges?" by saying, "I admit and I am sorry."

When asked, "Do you have anything to say to your daughter?" he said, "I am sorry for the things I did to her. I will reflect deeply and accept the punishment."

On the other hand, B did not respond to any questions from the press and entered the courtroom.

A and B are accused of abusing their 8-year-old daughter C, a third-grade elementary school student, to death at a villa in Unnam-dong, Jung-gu, Incheon, on the 2nd.
