According to foreign media on the 5th (local time), on the 3rd, vegetable vendor Sarvesh Kumar walked to a police station 2 km away from his village holding his daughter's head in his hand and confessed to his crime.
According to the police, Sarvesh had witnessed his daughter engaging in an embarrassing scene with a distant relative, a man he disliked, a few days earlier. In anger, he beheaded his daughter with a weapon at their home around 3 p.m. the same day and then surrendered himself.
He stated, "I only recently found out that my daughter was dating the problematic boyfriend, which made me even angrier. When we were alone at home, I locked her in a room and beheaded her."
Local police said, "We found the beheaded body and the weapon used in the crime," adding, "Sarvesh has been arrested on charges of murdering his daughter."
In India, where the incident occurred, there is a custom called 'honor killing,' where individuals who date or marry someone from a different caste are often killed by their families. It is estimated that hundreds of people fall victim to this every year.
