[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seok-jin] Following the resignation of Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, now under the acting leadership of Deputy Prosecutor General Cho Nam-gwan (Judicial Research and Training Institute class 24), will hold a nationwide meeting of high prosecutors on the 8th, chaired by Deputy Prosecutor General Cho, to discuss measures for organizational stability and responses to the Serious Crime Investigation Agency (Jungsucheong) bill.


On the 5th, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office announced, "A nationwide meeting of high prosecutors will be held on the 8th at 10:30 a.m., chaired by Deputy Prosecutor General Cho."


It added, "At this meeting, we plan to discuss measures for organizational stability due to the vacancy of the Prosecutor General position, ways to establish the new criminal justice system, gather opinions on the Public Prosecution Service Act and the Jungsucheong bill, and other prosecutorial reform tasks."


There are six chief prosecutors at high prosecutors' offices nationwide.


Cho Sang-chul, Chief Prosecutor of Seoul High Prosecutors' Office (Judicial Research and Training Institute class 23), Kang Nam-il, Chief Prosecutor of Daejeon High Prosecutors' Office, Koo Bon-seon, Chief Prosecutor of Gwangju High Prosecutors' Office, Oh In-seo, Chief Prosecutor of Suwon High Prosecutors' Office, and from class 24, Jang Young-soo, Chief Prosecutor of Daegu High Prosecutors' Office, and Park Sung-jin, Chief Prosecutor of Busan High Prosecutors' Office, can also be considered candidates for Prosecutor General along with Deputy Prosecutor General Cho, who holds a similar rank.
