Ministry of Land Public Project Completed in 2023 … Specialized Experience and Exhibition Facilities at Drowsy Rest Areas
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] A drowsy rest area with region-specific experience and viewing functions called the 'Smart Complex Rest Area' will be established along the national highway in Sancheong-gun, a gateway to Cheonwangbong Peak of Jirisan in Gyeongnam.
Sancheong-gun announced on the 5th that this rest area project was selected as a target area for the Smart Complex Rest Area creation project promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
The Smart Complex Rest Area is a facility equipped with smart technology facilities tailored to regional characteristics and service facilities for regional promotion and job creation, intended for users of general national highways.
With the selection in this public contest project, Sancheong-gun plans to invest a total budget of 3.5 billion KRW, including 2 billion KRW from the national government and 1.5 billion KRW from the county, to build the 'Sancheong Meomum Smart Complex Rest Area' in the Sinyeon-ri area of Saengcho-myeon.
The complex rest area will start construction by the end of this year and is scheduled to be completed in 2023. On a site of 15,800㎡, it will include basic facilities such as parking lots and restrooms, as well as a Sancheong culture and tourism promotion center, local food sales area, walking trails, and charging stations.
A county official stated, "This rest area will serve as an important transportation hub in western Gyeongnam, connecting and accommodating regional visitors, while being developed as a complex space where tourism and culture harmonize. We will actively utilize the natural scenery of the Gyeongho River and regional historical and cultural tourism resources to provide user convenience and promote regional economic revitalization through job creation."
