Suncheon Fire Station Promotes Spring Fire Prevention for 'Zero Large-Scale Fires'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon Fire Station announced on the 5th that it will implement spring fire prevention measures until May.

With the slogan "Zero Large-Scale Fires," the focus is on reducing the number of fires and casualties.

Based on last spring, compared to the average of the past five years (2015-2019), fires decreased by 7.9% and casualties decreased by 42%.

This spring, customized fire safety measures will be promoted to provide safe living spaces from seasonal characteristics (thawing period and increased outdoor activities) and the COVID-19 pandemic.

The initiatives will proceed with 15 key tasks: ▲ Establishing preparedness and response systems for forest fires ▲ Laying the foundation to reduce casualties in residential facilities ▲ Safety management of campgrounds such as glamping and caravans ▲ Special fire inspections of wooden and traditional temples in preparation for Buddha’s Birthday ▲ Special fire inspections of COVID-19 vaccination centers ▲ Non-face-to-face autonomous safety inspections of multi-use facilities ▲ Strengthening fire safety patrols during vulnerable times and places, among a total of 15 items.

Ha Su-cheol, Chief of Suncheon Fire Station, stated, “Spring’s dry weather greatly increases the risk of forest fires, and the thawing period coincides with an increase in outdoor activity visitors.” He added, “With the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines, outdoor activities are expected to increase compared to last year, and we will make every effort to prepare for various disaster situations.”
