[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] On the 5th, Korea Electric Wire Corporation announced that it was selected as a quality excellence company by the American power company 'Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E)'.

PG&E, established in 1905, is one of the largest power companies in the United States, supplying electricity and gas to more than 5.5 million households and over 16 million people in the central and northern parts of California, centered around San Francisco. This award is given to three companies that have shown the most outstanding performance among more than 5,000 global companies supplying products and services to PG&E.

Korea Electric Wire Corporation explained that it was the only cable company to receive this award. A representative of Korea Electric Wire Corporation said, "Not only did we surpass major cable companies from the United States, Europe, and Japan, but we also achieved the honor of being the first Korean company to win, recognizing our unique competitiveness and service in the North American market."

The award ceremony was held online at 2:30 PM local time in the United States on the 4th, with executives from PG&E and the awarded companies in attendance. Na Hyungkyun, president of Korea Electric Wire Corporation, said, "It is very meaningful to be selected as a quality excellence company just two years after supplying cables to PG&E," adding, "We will continue to expand our competitiveness in the North American market through strict quality control, continuous research and development, and customer-centered service."

Korea Electric Wire Corporation has sales corporations in the United States and branches on both the East and West coasts, and in 2019, it recorded the largest order volume in its history of entering the U.S. market, exceeding 270 billion won in orders.
