Monthly Sales Growth Rate of Ice Cups, Second Highest in March When Warm Weather Begins
300 Won Discount on Ice Cups When Paying for 11 Beverage Types with BC Card, Hana Card, or Naver Pay
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Emart24 announced on the 5th that it will hold a discount event of up to 50% as ice cup sales increase in March, when warm weather begins.
Throughout March, Emart24 will offer a 50% discount on ice cups (180g) priced at 300 won when purchased together with 11 popular canned and bottled beverages such as Coca-Cola, Pepsi Cola, and Chilsung Cider using BC Card, Hana Card, or Naver Pay (limited to once per person per day). Even with the addition of canned or bottled drinks, the total purchase price remains under 2,000 won.
Emart24 also offers a subscription service for Ifresso ice cups (180g) through its application. The 7-day Ifresso ice cup pass is available at 2,940 won, a 30% discount from the regular price, and the 14-day pass is available at 4,200 won, a 50% discount.
The reason Emart24 holds the ice cup discount event starting in March is that March has the second highest increase rate in ice cup sales throughout the year. In 2020, the month-over-month increase rate in ice cup sales was highest in June (122.9%), when the heat begins, followed by March (69.9%). Emart24’s strategy is to prepare the ice cup event in advance before the full onset of heat so that customers who want to purchase ice cups will think of Emart24 first.
Yoo Chang-sik, head of Emart24’s Sales Marketing Team, said, "We planned the half-price ice cup event in March, when ice cup sales surge, to provide practical benefits to more customers," adding, "We expect this ice cup event to receive great responses from customers as the weather warms up."
