This is 19 more than the 290 cases recorded at the same time the previous day.
By region, the metropolitan area accounted for 249 cases (80.6%), and non-metropolitan areas accounted for 60 cases (19.4%). Gyeonggi had 136 cases, Seoul 101, Busan 20, Chungbuk 15, Incheon 12, Gyeongbuk 5, Gwangju and Chungnam 4 each, Ulsan and Gangwon 3 each, Daegu and Gyeongnam 2 each, Jeonbuk and Jeju 1 each.
Among the 17 cities and provinces nationwide, no confirmed cases have yet been reported in Daejeon, Sejong, and Jeonnam.
The number of new confirmed cases as of 0:00 on the 5th, when the tally closes, is expected to reach around 400 or more. The previous day saw an increase of 134 cases by midnight, closing at a final count of 424.
Major infection cases show a chain of transmission mainly within workplaces and families.
In Gimpo, Gyeonggi, 4 people tested positive centered around the families of existing confirmed cases, and in Bucheon, a total of 6 people were infected, including contacts of earlier confirmed cases.
Korean Air had 6 headquarters employees confirmed positive and switched to remote work.
In addition, infection cases were confirmed in restaurants, saunas, hospitals, factories, and gyms.
