[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] Rapper Lee Young-ji revealed that she confessed to rapper Laewon but was rejected.
Lee Young-ji and Laewon appeared on a live broadcast hosted by YouTuber Kkwa-turup on the 3rd.
On that day, Kkwa-turup asked Laewon and Lee Young-ji, "Have you ever felt the other person as the opposite sex?"
Laewon answered "No," while Lee Young-ji answered "Yes," attracting attention.
Earlier, in December last year, dating rumors about the two spread mainly on online communities, but both denied them.
Lee Young-ji said she was interested in Laewon and confessed but was rejected. Laewon recalled, "(At that time) my brain froze, not knowing how to respond."
When asked, "If Laewon had accepted, would you have thought about making it work?" Lee Young-ji answered, "Yes."
Lee Young-ji continued, "Someone would tease me for life, but for me, it was a beautiful memory. I went to many places and had experiences with him, and through conversations with others, I realized how precious romantic feelings are as part of the growth process. It is absolutely not something shameful."
Lee Young-ji said, "(After my confession) we exchanged long messages and then stopped contacting each other for three months. Even though we have overlapping friends we hang out with, we didn’t talk about it," adding, "In the end, we decided to remain friends. Now, I really have no feelings."
She added, "Soon, we will release a song based on our story," and said, "The reason we brought this up is because both Laewon and I want to meet new people."
Even with about 25,000 viewers watching, Kkwa-turup was taken aback by Lee Young-ji’s honest confession.
Lee Young-ji said, "I liked him passionately, but now I really have no feelings, so there’s no need for that," but also said, "I want to receive many advances from men in the future."
Meanwhile, born in 2002, Lee Young-ji gained fame as the winner of Mnet's 'High School Rapper 3' and recently has been active in variety shows such as MBC's 'How Do You Play?'. Laewon reached the top 4 in Mnet's 'Show Me The Money 9'.
