[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gwangju City in Gyeonggi Province has launched the "Gwangju City Public Institution Relocation Promotion Team" led by Vice Mayor Lee Chun-gu, embarking on full-scale activities to attract the third phase of public institution relocations in Gyeonggi Province.

On the 4th, the city organized the "Gwangju City Public Institution Relocation Promotion Team," consisting of the General Attraction Team, Execution Team, Support Team, Private Cooperation Team, and Public Relations Response Team, and plans to implement strategic detailed plans such as securing relocation sites, public discussions within the local community, and promotional activities.

Mayor Shin Dong-heon stated, "Gwangju City was designated as a water source protection area in 1975, and for 46 years, regional development has been suppressed due to various overlapping regulations," adding, "We actively support the relocation of provincial public institutions as a special compensation for the special sacrifices made to resolve regional disparities."

Meanwhile, Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung announced on the 17th of last month that he plans to relocate seven public institutions, including Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation, Gyeonggi Economic Science Promotion Agency, and Gyeonggi Agriculture and Fisheries Promotion Agency, to promote balanced development in the northern and eastern regions of Gyeonggi Province.
